OWPS Swimming Carnival

𝗦𝗪𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻: The carnival is on this Thursday, 28th February.
𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Revesby Aquatic Centre.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹? Students must be at school by 8.15am for an 8:30am departure. The teachers will be lining up on the basketball courts ready to mark rolls. 
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: a towel, swimwear, change of clothes, water bottle, sunscreen, recess and lunch. 
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿? The students can wear sports uniform or mufti in their house colours. It is advisable that the children wear their swimmers underneath their clothing.
Please ensure the students are wearing enclosed shoes to and from school.
𝗡𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀.

𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀: 
Only students whose parents have marked AVERAGE or STRONG on their permission notes will be allowed to enter races.
𝗡𝗼𝗻/𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀: 
During roll call on the morning of the carnival, non/poor swimmers who have returned their special RED note will be given a yellow wristband, so they can enter the splash area at a designated time during the carnival. 
𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬 𝗡𝗢𝗡/𝗣𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗪𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗕𝗘 𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗔. 𝗡𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? All the races are 50m, except for the all ages 100m.

We are working backwards this year, starting with the 12/13 years down to 8s.
No diving off the blocks. Every student will start from the pool edge.

𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧:
Even though a student may win/place in a particular race, it DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFY THEM for the next race. Freestyle has heats, all the other strokes are FINALS. 
Finally, even though a student may win their race, it does not automatically give them entry to DISTRICT. There are qualifying times.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.
